HKEAA does not publish cut-offs. These are compiled from candidates' own reports, and the sources sometimes disagree; every disagreement is footnoted in the table above.
The cut-offs are for the whole subject, both papers together. HKEAA weights Paper 1 at 65% and Paper 2 at 35%.
Our online mock is Paper 2 only, so its level assumes your Paper 1 goes about as well as your Paper 2. Paper 2-only figures reported online are listed beside ours as a cross-check.
Blind guessing on Paper 2 averages 11.25 of 45 marks, so no level is awarded near that score.
Level 2 rests on only two reported years, so it is the least certain bar.
Until 6 October 2026 we used fixed percentages (88/80/69/55/42/27%) with no stated source. They sat below every recent year's cut-off, so they flattered scores by about one level.
